摘要

Formal decision-making methods can be used to help improve theoverall sustainability of industries and organisations. Recently, therehas been a great proliferation of works aggregating sustainabilitycriteria by using diverse multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM)techniques. A number of review papers summarising these techniqueshave been published. During the past few years, new approaches forhybrid MCDM (HMCDM) methods have been developed, but theyhave not yet been completely reviewed. This article aims to fill thisgap and to summarise publications related to the application ofHMCDM. The current study is limited solely to papers available in theThomson Reuters Web of Science Core Collection database. The mainfindings report that HMCDM methods have been increasingly appliedfor supporting decisions in different domains of sustainability. Themost frequently used methods emphasise the advantages of hybridapproaches over individual methods, and we conclude that they canassist decision-makers in handling information such as stakeholders’preferences, interconnected or contradictory criteria, and uncertainenvironments. The main contribution of this work is identifyinghybrid approaches as improvements for decision-making related tosustainability issues, while also promoting future application of theapproaches.
